About Us
A LOCAL BUSINESS WITH A PASSION FOR DESIGN
Schmidt Derby is a family-run kitchen and interior design business based in the heart of Derby’s historic Cathedral Quarter. From our showroom on Queen Street, we help homeowners create spaces that combine individual style with intelligent design and lasting quality. Our collections extend beyond kitchens to fitted furniture and home living solutions, giving our clients the freedom to transform multiple areas of their home with a beautifully coordinated approach. Above all, we want every visit to feel welcoming, personal and inspiring, whether you arrive with a complete vision or are simply looking for ideas.
Founded by Derby resident Zori Kostadinova, Schmidt Derby was created from a genuine passion for innovative interiors and the belief that great design should always begin with the people who will live with it. Zori brings a personal approach to the showroom, taking time to understand what clients want from their homes and helping them explore possibilities they may not have considered. Being based in Derby is important to us, and we’re proud to bring Schmidt’s contemporary approach to fitted furniture to an area renowned for its heritage and craftsmanship while building lasting relationships within our local community.
DESIGNED WITH YOUR HOME IN MIND
At Schmidt Derby, we offer flexible kitchen and home living solutions that can be adapted to suit different spaces, styles and everyday requirements.
BUILT AROUND INTEGRITY, LOYALTY AND CARE
The values of Integrity, Loyalty and Care shape everything we do at Schmidt Derby. For us, creating a new kitchen or transforming another area of your home is a significant investment, so providing clear advice, attentive service and genuine support is essential. From the first conversation to the final details, our team is committed to making each experience feel personal and well considered. By combining these values with Schmidt’s extensive design possibilities and high standards of craftsmanship, we aim to create interiors that our clients are proud to call home.
Showroom Team
Zori Kostadinova
With more than 20 years of experience in global marketing and a strong passion for interiors, Zori created Schmidt Derby with a clear vision: to deliver beautifully designed spaces alongside a genuinely personal service. Having called Derby home for over a decade, she brings a strong connection to the local community and a hands-on approach to every project. Michael Olowo-Ofayoku
With a BA (Hons) in Architecture and experience working with some of the UK’s leading kitchen brands, Michael brings both technical expertise and creative thinking to the Schmidt Derby team. His skills in 3D CAD visualisation and space planning help clients see the potential of their homes and turn initial ideas into practical, considered designs. Michael’s thoughtful approach, attention to detail and ability to listen carefully ensure each project is developed around the client, their space and the way they want to live.
Rocket
Rocket is Schmidt Derby’s much-loved showroom mascot and one of the friendliest members of the team. Well-travelled, full of personality and already something of an Instagram celebrity, he loves welcoming visitors to the showroom. You may find him saying hello during your consultation or keeping a watchful eye on the latest designs. And for anyone who prefers a little more space, Rocket is equally content relaxing in his bed while you explore the showroom.
